During the demonstration held in Diyarbakır on October 4, 2022 to protest the killing of journalist and academic Nagihan Akarsel, six people, including Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Eylem Akdağ and journalist Azat Taşkın, were detained.
Facing the charges of “violating the Law no. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations” and “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” (as per the Article 7/2 of the Anti-Terror Law / TMK), the six people were released on the night of October 5 after the related procedures at the police department were completed (October 5).
