On January 4, 2022, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) Managing Editor Ferhat Çelik was detained over a news report published on the MA’s YouTube page. The warrant was issued by the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office (January 4).
Çelik was released following his statement at the İstanbul Şişli Security Bureau (January 5).
After he was released, Ferhat Çelik was detained again and taken to the İstanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Following his statement, he was released from the Mecidiyeköy District Security Directorate (January 5).
On January 24, a decision of non-prosecution was given in the investigation launched against Çelik by the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on charge of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” (February 24).
