Journalist Oktay Candemir tweeted a critical message about the “Resurrection: Ertuğrul” (Diriliş Ertuğrul”) TV series aired on state channel TRT then the house of Candemir was raided and he was taken into custody on September 7 in the scope of the Art.130, “insulting the memory of a dead person”. He was released on probation by the Van 2nd Penal Court of Peace (8 September).

On February 25, 2021, the Van Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office gave a decision of non-prosecution against Oktay Candemir as per the Article 130 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) (February 25).
