Yusuf Topaloğlu, a reporter for the Dicle News Agency (DİHA), which was closed by a Statutory Decree, was taken into custody as part of an investigation against him on November 27, 2019. The prosecutor’s office referred him to the Penal Judgeship of Peace and requested his arrest.
The judgeship has ruled that journalist Hacı Yusuf Topaloğlu shall be arrested on the charge of “membership in a terrorist organization” based on the statements of an anonymous witness on December 5.
Hacı Yusuf Topaloğlu was released in his first hearing at the 2nd High Criminal Court of Adıyaman on January 21, 2020.
