An investigation was launched against T24 reporter Can Öztürk following a complaint filed by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akın regarding an article published on 4 March 2025, titled “Allegations of harassment and abuse during a ‘conversion session’; children accused, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akın denied: ‘These children have gone off the rails!’”.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akın, the former Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Istanbul Medeniyet University, filed a criminal complaint through his lawyer on 7 March 2025, claiming that the report contained “baseless allegations” and demanding legal action against the journalist.

Journalist Can Öztürk is under investigation on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” (Turkish Penal Code Article 217/A) and “defamation” (TPC Article 267).
