Former editor-in-chief of local news portal “Haber Erciş” (News Erciş) Sercan Akbaş is standing trial for allegedly “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” due to a news article regarding Turkey’s military operation to Afrin, Syria published on January 21 2018.
At the first hearing of the trial which was held on December 11, Van 7th High Criminal Court decided on the acquittal of Akbaş whose defence was carried out by Media and Law Studies Association.
