Writer and academic Fikret Başkaya put on trial for the charge of “Propagandising for a terrorist organisation” over an article published online on the website of Özgür Üniversite (The Free University) took place on 21 March in Ankara. Başkaya faces up to 7 years 6 months of imprisonment. The next hearing will be held on September 10 (21 Mart)
At the hearing on September 10, Başkaya’s lawyers’ request for time to prepare defense was accepted. Next hearing will be held at 22 November.
At the hearing on 22 November, the court decided on the acquittal of Başkaya.
