The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed an administrative fine on Halk TV on the grounds of Ayşenur Arslan’s comments about the document sent by the RTÜK to broadcasters regarding the coverage of forest fires during the “Ayşenur Arslan ile Medya Mahallesi” (Media Neighborhood with Ayşenur Arslan) programs on August 4-5, 2021. The reason for the administrative fine has been cited as the violation of the principle of “media services shall not be contrary to human dignity and the principle of respect to privacy, shall not include disgracing, degrading or defamatory expressions against persons or organizations beyond the limits of criticism” (August 11).
