Yağız Barut, freelance journalist and board member of İzmir Journalists’ Association, was detained in İzmir while covering the mass protests that erupted after the detention and arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. He was accused of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and was held in custody for four days before being released.
