28 people, including journalist İdris Yayla and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) former Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, stand trial at the Batman 1st Criminal Court of First Instance on the grounds that “they violated the Law no. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations” by attending the protests against the trustee appointments in Batman province in 2016.

At the seventh hearing of the case held on November 11, 2021, the court board ruled that the execution of the warrants against some defendants should be awaited. The next hearing will be held on February 8, 2022 (November 11).
