In the trial over the “Council of State” attack and the hand grenade attack on the central office of Cumhuriyet Newspaper in İstanbul, the İstanbul 4th High Criminal Court sentenced arrested defendant Alparslan Arslan to aggravated life imprisonment and Osman Yıldırım, İsmail Sağır and Erhan Timuroğlu to life imprisonment. All defendants were acquitted of “establishing and leading the Ergenekon organization” (June 10).
