The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office ruled that there were no grounds for prosecution against Burak Kılıç, Deputy Chair of the ultranationalist Ülkü Ocakları, who had targeted and threatened journalists on social media over their reporting on the murder of Sinan Ateş.

The decision became public through the written response to a complaint filed by journalist Alican Uludağ. In the response, the prosecution stated: “The statements in the post do not meet the legal elements of the crime of threat.” On these grounds, the case was closed.
