The İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against journalist Can Dündar on charges of “insulting the President of the Republic” (as per Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code / TCK) and “degrading the Turkish nation, the State of the Republic of Turkey and the bodies and institutions of the state” (as per Article 301 of the TCK). The reason for the investigation was his statements in a YouTube video that he posted on Twitter on August 31 (September 5).
