The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against Cumhuriyet newspaper, which covered the statements of Sedat Peker, who is charged with leading a criminal organization. As part of the investigation launched upon the criminal complaint of Commander of Gendarmerie Forces Arif Çetin and on charges of “insult and libel”, Cumhuriyet Editor-in-Chief Aykut Küçükkaya and Managing Chief Editor Olcay Büyüktaş Akça gave their statements (June 8).
