An investigation was launched against journalist İzel Sezer over a news report published on March 29, 2022 on ilerihaber.org news portal. The report in question titled “Dismissals following torture in the nursing home” is about the alleged mistreatment of Sinan Gündoğdu, who is autistic, in a public nursing home, Pendik Life Care Rehabilitation Center, which operated by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies.

Sezer was summoned to testify within the scope of the investigation launched by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on charges of “insult” (Turkish Penal Code / TCK 125) and “slander” (TCK 267), following the complaint of İnaltekin, the former deputy Director General of Services for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly (June 10).
