The Van Metropolitan Municipality made a tender for renting vehicles on the occasion of President Erdoğan’s visit. The tender was given to Çetin Can, a former AKP executive, as per the Article 21-B of the relevant law, which enters into force only in case of natural disasters, outbreaks and war. Journalist Oktay Candemir reported on the irregularities in the tender for renting vehicles at the cost of 2.5 million TRY. Çetin Can filed a criminal complaint against Candemir on charges of “libel and insult”. The Van Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against Candemir, who went to the security directorate and gave his statement as part of the investigation on September 6, 2022 (September 6).
