An investigation was launched against Evrensel Daily İzmir Province Representative journalist Özer Akdemir with the allegation of provoking the public to hatred, hostility or degrading. According to the testimony he gave at İzmir Province Police Station the investigation is based on his tweets regarding the images showing Justice and Development Party MP Halil İbrahim Yıldız going to schools alongside with armed people (where the voting occurs) during the Presidential elections in June 2018, in the Suruç district of Urfa. The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in İzmir issued non-prosecution for Evrensel Newspaper’s İzmir Reporter Özer Akdemir’s investigation launched against him on the suspicion of “Provoking the Public to Hatred, Hostility or Degrading” (3 December).
