Public Prosecutor launched an investigation against journalist and columnist Enver Aysever due to a caricature he posted on 19 March 2020, via his social media account for allegedly publicly degrading religious beliefs”.

The investigation launched against Aysever has been completed and the indictment lodged against him has been accepted; accordingly, Enver Aysever will now stand trial at the İstanbul Anadolu 37th Criminal Court of First Instance and face 9 months to 1 year, 6 months in prison (November 13).

On December 21, 2021, the İstanbul 37th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Aysever to 9 months in prison. Reducing his prison sentence to 7 months, 15 days, the court turned it into a judicial fine of 4,500 Turkish Lira (December 21).
