A lawsuit was filed by the Diyarbakır’s Public Prosecutor’s office against Alağaş in relation to news articles published under her watch. Alağaş is accused of “making terrorist propaganda” and faces a sentence up to five years in prison.

Alağaş did not attend the hearing, where she was represented by her lawyer, Pirozhan Karali. The court merged another file against Alağaş on the “propaganda” charge, issued on 16 January 2019 by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, with the ongoing case. The presiding judge said the merged file still lacked the journalist’s permanent address.

Lawyer Karali requested additional time to file the permanent address notification and other lacking documents. The court granted the defense lawyer 20 days to complete the documents and decided that an arrest warrant would to be issued for Alağaş, if her current address is not notified to the court until the deadline.

The fourth hearing of the case in which Alağaş is on trial for “membership in a terrorist organization” (Turkish Civil Code Aerticle 314) was held on 11 June 2024 at Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court. The court ruled to write to the Diyarbakır Police Department to decide whether secret witness No. 1 will be heard, and the hearing was adjourned until 22 October 2024 (11 June).
