The Istanbul 59th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Journalist Faruk Arhan to 6 months and 7 days of imprisonment for “degrading the state of the Turkish Republic, the Turkish nation, and the organs and institutions of the state” through his social media posts on October 9, 2018. The prison sentence was suspended.
