T24 news site’s columnist and founder of the P24, Hasan Cemal is standing trial due to his article, entitled “Some kind of a Dictator” (Diktator bozuntusu), through which he has mentioned the CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s statements. He was sentenced to 11 months and 20 days of imprisonment on 1 March 2017, on the grounds of “insulting the President of the Republic” The 24th Criminal Court of First Instance in Ankara suspended the pronouncement of the verdict.
