Journalists Abdurrahman Gök, Lezgin Akdeniz, Cihan Ölmez, Esra Solin Dal and Semiha Alankuş and Mehmet Akdoğan who were detained in house raids conducted as part of a Diyarbakır-based operation launched in eight provinces on October 9, have been released after giving their depositions at the courthouse.

The 9th High Criminal Court of Diyarbakır has accepted the indictment issued against him, where the journalist is charged with “membership in a terrorist group” based on testimony by a secret witness, and with “successively disseminating propaganda for a terrorist group” on the grounds that the journalist “liked a news story and another post on Facebook.”The indictment seeks up to a total of 22 years of imprisonment for Akdeniz (27 March)

On March 27, 2019 Diyarbakır 9 High Criminal Court acquitted Akdeniz for the accusation of “being a member of a terrorist organization” but sentenced him to 1 year 3 months of imprisonment after finding him guilty on propagandizing for a terrorist organization. The execution of the sentence is deferred.
