In January 2018, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a new indictment against Ilıcak, accusing the journalist of “Disclosure of Information Which Must be Kept Confidential” as per Article 330/1 of the Turkish Penal Code for a newspaper column published on 2 January 2015, in the shuttered Bugün daily, and titled “Askerî İstihbarat ve Tahşiyeciler”

The court acquitted Sertaç Kayar of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization.”

Journalist Sertaç Kayar on 5 February appeared in the second hearing of a The case in which  he was charged with “propagandising for a terrorist organisation” for his social media posts. The 4th High Criminal Court of Diyarbakır acquitted Kayar of the charge although the prosecution requested punishment for the journalist.
