Journalist Ruşen Çakır was taken to the Istanbul Police Department around midday to give a statement as part of the investigation into Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. He was questioned about social media posts and whether he had received money from İBB officials, based on a secret witness named “İlke.” Çakır denied the allegations and was released under a travel ban.
Other journalists questioned as part of the investigation include Soner Yalçın, Şaban Sevinç, Yavuz Oğhan, and Batuhan Çolak. Aslı Aydıntaşbaş was abroad and therefore not questioned.
