President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s son-in-law Berat Albayrak’s elder brother Serhat Albayrak filed a criminal complaint against Evrensel newspaper, which turned into first an investigation, then a lawsuit. Evrensel’s Managing Editor Görkem Kınacı and Grant Holder Kürşat Yılmaz will be put on trial over the news reports about crime group leader Sedat Peker’s allegations. The first hearing of the lawsuit will be held at the İstanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance on March 7, 2023 (December 6).
