Suing the journalists who reported on the loans it had received from the Ziraat Bank to finance its purchases in sectors such as media, games of chance and energy, the Demirören Media argued that its commercial reputation was tarnished.
Demirören Media demanded 0.03 lira in damages from Cumhuriyet Foundation grant holder Alev Coşkun and Hazal Ocak.
The Bakırköy 7th Civil Court of First Instance accepted Demirören’s application and ruled that both applications should be merged. Hazal Ocak and other journalists will stand before the judge in the upcoming days (December 22).
