Due to the news report “Ensar, TÜRGEV and TÜGVA [are] like parallel terrorist organizations” published on Cumhuriyet newspaper on October 23, 2021, Mehmet Kızmaz and Cumhuriyet newspaper faced a lawsuit for damages filed by TÜGVA Foundation. During the trial, Kızmaz’s lawyer Damla Çaltepe requested that the case be dismissed while TÜGVA’s lawyer requested that the case be accepted. Accepting the case, the court ruled that Kızmaz and Cumhuriyet newspaper should be sentenced to pay 15 thousand TRY in damages (October 19).
