The Constitutional Court combined the applications of Evrensel, Cumhuriyet, BirGün, Sözcü, and Tunceli Emek newspapers and ruled that the advertisement and announcement bans imposed by the Press Advertisement Agency (BİK) constituted a violation of freedom of expression and press. One of the applications belonged to Evrensel newspaper, which had been penalized with an advertisement ban for publishing a Mezopotamya Agency report titled “Press Advertisement Agency Ended Kurdish Publishing” (October 4).
