The lawsuit for reinstatement filed by 23 of the 45 press workers who were dismissed from Hürriyet newspaper because they had become members of a labor union began at the İstanbul Bakırköy 6th Labor Court. At the second hearing held on April 11, the witnesses of the opposing party were heard and it was ruled that the files should be sent to the expert to take a statement. The next hearing will be held on September 9 (June 9).

In the lawsuit filed by 22 of the 45 journalists dismissed without compensation, the Bakırköy 6th Labor Court ruled on December 24, 2021 that Demirören should pay “damages for union rights” (December 24).

The appeals court has upheld the ruling foreseeing the reinstatement of the journalists dismissed by Hürriyet newspaper and the payment of damages to them (July 5)
