In 2019, journalist Ensar Özdemir, via his attorney Hasan Önder Sulu, filed an action for fixing of period against Anadolu Agency (AA) on the grounds that he had been employed uninsured for 6 years. Appealing to the Gaziantep 5th Labor Court, Sulu won the lawsuit seeking to confirm that he had been employed uninsured by the AA from April 1, 2006 to June 11, 2012 and to have the period identified by the Social Security Institution (SGK).
The Labor Court concluded that the state-run AA employed Özdemir “informally” for 6 years in violation of the Social Security and General Health Insurance Law (September 3).
