Aydın Engin, a journalist for 51 years, filed a lawsuit against the Presidency’s Communications Directorate on the grounds that he had not been given his permanent press card without any justifications for over two years. Appealing to the Ankara Administrative Court via his attorney Tora Pekin on December 9, 2020, Engin said, “I have been a journalist for 51 years. I have had a permanent press card for 25 years. This is an acquired right. No public institution can take back my card without presenting a reasonable justification.” Engin noted that he applied to the Communications Directorate about the issue on September 21, adding that he filed a lawsuit as his application was left unanswered (June 4).
