The Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) appealed to the Council of State and requested that the the execution of the Press Ethical Principles, which was published in the Official Gazette on July 6, 2022 as per the decision of the Press Advertisement Institution (BİK) General Assembly, be suspended and that the principles be annulled (September 6).
On September 8, 2022, the Journalists’ Union of Turkey (TGS) and the Turkish Journalists’ Association (TGC) also took legal action against the “General Assembly Decision on the Press Ethical Principles” and the “Regulation Foreseeing Amendments to the Regulation on Public Ads and the Periodicals to Publish Them” (September 8).
