Released by the İstanbul 25th High Criminal Court on January 4, 2019 before he was sentenced to 2 years, 1 month in prison for “aiding the FETÖ”, journalist Murat Aksoy has still been unable to take his passport back. The journalist tweeted, “The international travel ban has been lifted. I was about to make an application for the passport, it apparently needs to be permitted by the Security. We have submitted the petition. Let’s see when it will be finalized…” The Constitutional Court previously concluded that Aksoy’s imprisonment violated his right to liberty and security (June 9).
