The trial of Alper Var, brother of Şarköy Mayor Alpay Var, who is charged with “intentional minor injury, threat, damage to property, and insult” for attacking Deniz Önal, editor of Şarköy’ün Sesi, was held on June 15. Alper Var did not attend the hearing. The requests of Deniz Önal and Yakup Önal to join the public case were accepted. The court, deciding that the video footage would be watched in the courtroom in the next session, also ruled that Hüseyin Acar, who filmed the video, would be heard as a witness (June 15).
The hearing was held on February 13. Witness Hüseyin Acar confirmed his previous testimony and said about Deniz Önal, “Yes, his nose was bleeding.” The trial was adjourned until April 25 for the hearing of one last witness (February 13).
