Struggle Against Administrative Restrictions

The Plenary Session of Administrative Law Chambers of the Council of State has given its final decision regarding the application of the Journalists’ Union of Turkey (TGS) about the banning of the audio and video recording of police officers during public events and annulled the relevant police circular.

In November 2021, the 10th Chamber of the Council of State unanimously halted the execution of the police circular.

The The Plenary Session of Administrative Law Chambers of the Council of State has rejected the appeals of the Minister of Interior and General Director of Security and annulled the ban.

The prosecutor of the Council of State presented their opinion as to the verdict. The prosecutor recalled that fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution shall be restricted only by law and indicated that the related circular should be annulled (September 28).
