Both the channel and the RTUK lawyers made a defense in the lawsuit filed for the channel to be broadcast again. Mahmut Akgül, the editor-in-chief of the channel, emphasized that Alevis were unlawfully subject to violation of their rights of broadcasting without any official notification (December 20).
