The Ministry of Industry and Technology has not extended the license of Deutsche Welle (DW) Türkçe. The Ministry justified not renewing the license of the outlet which needs to be extended every two years with the outlet “not choosing its field of activity correctly.” The Ministry notified the decision to the newspaper on March 7.
After the decision, DW will not be able to insure its employees in Turkey, but its employees will become freelancers and the news outlet will continue its journalism activities (March 29)
