JinNews reporter Melike Aydın was detained in a police raid on her house in İzmir on November 12, 2019.

Aydın was arrested by the decision of the İzmir 1st Penal Court of Peace on November 15. A lawsuit was filed against Aydın on charge of “being a member of an armed terrorist organization” with her phone calls with her news sources and books such as the “Color Purple of the Kuridsh Politics” (Kürt Siyasetinin Mor Rengi) cited as criminal evidence.

On January 30, 2021, Melike Aydın was released on probation pending trial (January 30).

At the hearing on June 8, 2021, Aydın was acquitted of “being a member of an armed terrorist organization” (June 8).
