The Hakkari Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a non-prosecution decision in the investigation against Jin News reporter Rabia Önver, who faced charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” (Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code) over her reporting on the spread of prostitution and drugs in Hakkari. Although her house had been raided, she was not detained as she was not at home at the time. The prosecutor’s office closed the file, stating that her reporting should be considered within the scope of press freedom.
