Osman Zümrüt has been given1.740 Turkish liras of fines due to this article entitled “R.’nin İtlerinden Yüce Allah’a Sığınmak” in the newspaper named Haber published in Samsun, for insulting the AKP representative, Suat Kılıç on October 12, 2011.
Zümrüt has appealed to ECtHR. ECtHR has concluded the application of Zümrüt on the grounds that his freedom of expression was violated. ECtHR ruled that Zümrüt shall be paid a compensation of 950 euros for pecuniary damages and 3.250 euros for nonpecuniary damages, totaling 4.200 Euros (17 March).
