A lawsuit was filed against Özgür Boğatekin, the News Director of Gerger Fırat Newspaper, over the news report “Allegation of torture at the gendarmerie” dated May 10, 2011 and the column article penned by Hacı Boğatekin on May 13, 2011.
Witnesses were heard at the fourth hearing of the trial held at the Gerger 1st Criminal Court of First Instance. The court board ruled that the deficiencies should be rectified and the employee information of the complainant should be requested by sending an official letter to the Kahta Recruiting Office. The next hearing will be held on April 14 (February 17).
At the hearing of the case which was filed against journalist Özgür Boğatekin 11 years ago and where the pronouncement of the verdict was deferred, the final hearing was held at the Gerger Criminal Judgeship of Peace in Adıyaman province on April 14, 2021. The court board has ruled that Boğatekin shall be acquitted of the offense charged (April 14).
