The 2nd High Criminal Court in Bursa in July 2018 sentenced photojournalist Uygar Önder Şimşek to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment for “propagandising for a terrorist organisation [PKK]”. Şimşek was publishing his photos through social media. Şimşek had been taken into custody in February 2018 for 1 week.
