The journalists who wanted to follow the Şenyaşar family’s Justice Watch were prevented by the police at the entrance of the Urfa Courthouse. Saying that taking pictures and videos was forbidden, the police cited the “Governor’s Office’s ban on events and demonstrations in front of public buildings” as the reason. Filming the mother and son despite the prevention, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter and Yeni Yaşam newspaper reporters were made to go through a criminal record check. Police threatened journalists with “taking a legal action” (August 29).
