The Radio and Television Supreme Council imposed an administrative fine and a five-day broadcast suspension on Açık Radyo due to the “Armenian genocide” expressions in the “Açık Gazete” program broadcast on April 24, on the grounds of violation of Article 32 of Law No. 6112 (June 29).
RTÜK canceled the broadcasting license of independent radio station Açık Radyo. The Council stated that the station continued broadcasting despite a 5-time program suspension penalty and that the license was canceled for this reason (July 3th).
Ankara 21st Administrative Court has given a ruling of stay of execution for suspension and fine decision imposed by the Television and Radio Supreme Council (RTÜK). RTÜK has appealed this decision (July 8).
Ankara 21st Administrative Court has rejected RTÜK’s appeal (August 9).
Açık Radyo was shut down on 16 October.
