Sıddık Güler, editor-in-chief of the Serhat News news website, testified at the Van Security Branch Directorate on July 5 on charges of “disseminating misleading information” (TCK 217/A) based on a news article published on Serhat News on June 19.

The allegation that Van Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Erol Uslu had beaten Deputy Director Şenay İvelik Dönmez was reported in the press in June. Uslu denied the allegations, while Dönmez filed a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Serhat News claimed that an AKP MP was behind the incident, and the article was published with the headline “Did an AKP MP conspire against Van Provincial Culture and Tourism Director?” (July 5).
