On November 2, Cengiz Erdinç, a writer for Kısa Dalga, was detained in Ayvalık on charges of “spreading misleading information” (Turkish Penal Code 217/A). On November 3, after giving a statement to the Ayvalık Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, he was released under judicial control.
Until September 24, Erdinç was under a foreign travel ban and required to sign at the police station. The journalist is scheduled to stand trial on January 7 at the Ayvalık 1st Criminal Court of First Instance on charges of “spreading misleading information” (December 11).

The Ayvalık 1st Criminal Court of First Instance acquitted journalist Cengiz Erdinç, columnist for Kısa Dalga, at the first hearing of the case in which he was charged with “publicly disseminating misleading information” over social media posts.
