Nurcan Baysal was facing up to three years of imprisonment on a charge of “inciting people to hatred and enmity” for her anti-war tweets on Turkey’s military intervention to Afrin.

She has been held in the Anti-Terror Branch for three days and released after she was questioned by the Prosecutor’s Office for her anti-war tweets. The final hearing was held at the İstanbul 14th Heavy Penal Courton 21 February 2019. The 7th Criminal Court of First Instance of Diyarbakır acquitted Nurcan Baysal of “inciting the public to hatred and enmity” charge.
