Some European journalists were barred from taking part in a press conference held in Istanbul in February 2019 since their accreditations were not extended although they have had applied well before to do so. The correspondents from ZDF, Tagesspiegel ve ARD Radio were among them. Turkish Finance and Treasury Minister Berat Albayrak said “Every state has its own rules. Those who have had their accreditations renewed are here and can ask questions freely.”
