On June 6, 2017, the 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance in Istanbul sentenced the chief editor for Yolculuk Newspaper Eray Sargın to 6 months of imprisonment for allegedly “degrading Turkish Nation, State of Turkish Republic, the Organs and Institutions of the State” over his news article entitled “AKP Kürdistan’da savaşı derinleştiriyor [The AKP intensified the war in Kurdistan]” in December 2015. The pronouncement of the judgement was deferred.
