The Constitutional Court announced its decision of Ahmet Altan’s (the former editor-in-chief of Taraf newspaper) application for numerous alleged violations of the proceeding, which resulted in the conviction of overthrowing the constitutional order through violence and force.

The court found that the allegations were manifestly ill-founded and domestic remedies have had not been exhausted in relation to allegations of ill-treatment.

Moreover, the Court concluded that the detention order of the applicant was proportionate and it was neither arbitrary nor unfounded. Finally, the Constitutional Court (AYM) did not find any violations of freedom of expression and freedom of press.
